The college was founded in 2008 as a branch campus to the Art Institute of Houston and trains students in media and culinary arts, design, and fashion management. The mission of the North Campus is to provide “a quality, collaborative academic environment for individuals seeking creative careers through higher education.” The Art Institute of Houston is a part of The Art Institutes consortium that includes over fifty schools across the country that provide students with the opportunity earn their degree in a variety of creative fields.

The Art Institute of Houston—North offers Bachelor’s and Associate’s degrees steeped in a strong liberal-arts educational foundation as well as hands-on instruction. Programs of Study

Associate of Applied Science and Diploma in Culinary Arts: The Culinary Arts Associate’s degree program helps students gain practical experience in the kitchen while also learning the business side of the culinary world. Students will work closely with their instructors and peers to learn how to produce high quality meals effectively and efficiently. Additionally, students in the culinary arts program will study the business of cost control, safety and sanitation, and menu and beverage management.

Associate of Applied Science and Diploma in Baking & Pastry: The Baking and Pastry program includes an emphasis on fundamental pastry and baking techniques and teaches students the hands-on skills needed to prepare and decorate a variety of desserts. Furthermore, to complement their practical work, students within the program will gain a foundation in the business essentials of pastry art and catering.

Baking & Pastry making is a demanding part of the culinary industry you will have an opportunity to develop the creative expressions necessary to compete in this field. Besides learning techniques, you will be trained to use the professional equipment that goes with the territory. Combining a combination of lecture and hands on instruction, you will have the opportunity to develop the skills you need to go out and find an entry level job in pastry arts.
