What you Need To Get Started

Any applicants wishing to attend The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Jacksonville must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent for their application to be considered.  The applicant will also be expected to complete a phone interview with a school counselor and submit a 150-word essay on why they feel that an education at this school will help their career aspirations.  A non-refundable fee of $50 is to accompany this submission.

Programs

Diploma in Culinary Arts: This program provided by The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Jacksonville is a skills-based course that will enable graduates to enter the food service industry in entry-level positions. In this course the student will be given a basic foundation in culinary history, food preparation and safety, classical cooking techniques as well as an introduction to professional kitchen appliances.

Instructors will also give students a practical hands-on knowledge of the realities in today’s food service industry with live demonstrations in a professional environment. With this diploma, students will be able to gain employment in such positions at line cooks and pantry cooks in local and international food service establishments such as restaurants, schools and resorts.

Associate of Arts degree in Culinary Arts: This program builds on the base that is provided by the diploma program and offers students of The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Jacksonville an opportunity to work in a practical kitchen environment while learning about kitchen management, nutrition, menu preparation and cost control. This incredibly active environment led by instructors will prepare the graduate to enter the food service industry in entry-level positions such as cook and pantry cook in food service establishments such as hotels and resorts the world over.

Bachelor in Arts degree in Culinary Management: This program is geared to the business of culinary arts and offers students courses that will give them the necessary skills in such areas as leadership, communication, restaurant management, marketing and advertising, basic accounting and financial management. Graduates from this program will be able to enter the food service industry in such entry-level capacities as restaurant manager and catering manager in such food service establishments as cruise ships, catering companies and restaurants.

Diploma in Baking & Pastry: Baking and Pastry Diploma students obtain a foundational knowledge and skills in the fundamental techniques and theories of the baking and pastry arts and in industry practices. Through applied coursework and hands-on experiences students will build the necessary skills and abilities to confidently meet the challenges of the baking, pastry and food service industry.
