About Sullivan University
Sullivan University has had a presence in the United States since 1962. Originally established as a business vocational training institution that offered one-year training for new professionals, it has since grown to become a recognizable name in the field of education. It is recognized for its ability to award everything from Associate degrees to Master's degrees in a number of on-site and online learning environments.
As with most schools awarding secondary degrees, Sullivan University emphasizes more than just skills training. Students are encouraged to develop a lifetime love of learning through their core curriculum classes in everything from communication to cultural studies, which is then complemented by intensive training in their professional field of choice.
The online program is no different, and students are expected to enter their courses with an existing Associate degree or equal credits to demonstrate that they have fulfilled these core curricula.
Hospitality Management (Online Bachelor's Degree)
The Hospitality Management program through Sullivan University's online courses is a BA program. Graduates of this four-year course are prepared to start working in middle management positions within the hospitality industry with the potential to move up through the ranks – usually in hotels, catering companies, spas, cruise ships, and restaurants.
The majority of students taking advantage of this program are those that are already working in the field and wish to further their professional skills. In fact, most Associate degrees from recognized culinary and hospitality training facilities are accepted for the program, and students can use those credits toward their BA in Hospitality Management goals. Students without the basic core training of two years at the Associate level generally have to complete the same requirements before being accepted into the online program.
Accreditation
Sullivan University is accredited by the Commission of Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. This gives them the authority to award Associate, Bachelor, and Master's degrees. Because many of their courses are offered in locations around the United States, the school is also regulated by The Indiana Commission on Proprietary Education, the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, and the Ohio State Board of Proprietary School Registration.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is available in the same format for online education as it is for on-site education. Students must fill out their FAFSA forms in order to qualify for federal and state funding, and the school also accepts money from private lending institutions and scholarship foundations. Students wishing to learn more about the available options and payment plans through the school should expect to have an interview or phone exchange with the financial planning department.
Faculty
Sullivan University's online faculty is comprised of a combination of on-site instructors who also teach online, and solely Internet-based instructors who prefer the challenge of communicating through the web. They are chosen not only for their commitment to this type of learning environment, but also their dedication to teaching students how to get on in the professional world. This means that in addition to vocational training based on the instructor's experience in their respective fields, students are encouraged to develop well-rounded skills in both life and business.
Facilities
The school's on-site facilities are located in the Kentucky cities of Louisville, Lexington, and Fort Knox. The “facilities” online are meant to mimic these on-site structures as much as possible, offering an online library and educational resources, virtual classrooms, and student interaction boards.
