About the Art of Cooking Diploma Program 

The Art of Cooking diploma program is a 51 quarter-credits course in basic kitchen skills and food science. This diploma program include training in ServSafe sanitation and safety as well as job seeking skills. Graduates are typically ready to work in entry-level food service positions.

About the AS in Culinary Arts Program

Students in the AS degree program get access to two externships in local restaurants, hotels, or clubs before graduation. Skills training focuses on moving from basic skills through advanced culinary methods and theory. The bulk of the coursework takes place in the kitchen doing hands-on learning.

About the BS Culinary Management Program

The Culinary Management BS degree focuses more on culinary skills related to running or managing a business. It includes courses on communication, leadership, human resources, marketing, food safety, and technology. The course includes a hands-on externship; otherwise, all instruction is provided in the classroom.

About the BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management Program

The Hotel and Restaurant Management Program will prepare students for management positions inside of restaurants and hotels, Focusing on training, leadership, and management, coursework also includes training in human resources, accounting, customer relations, communication, and financial management. The graduate will ready to purse a career as a restaurant or catering manager on cruise ships, in restaurants, and at banquet facilities.

Accreditation

The Art Institute of Pittsburgh is recognized by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education, authorizing it to bestow Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees. It is also accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, and is in the process of receiving accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The Culinary Arts AS program is further accredited by the American Culinary Foundation, making it a much-sought-after culinary training facility.

Financial Aid

All students have access to help from the school's Financial Aid Department. If qualified, access to state and federal loans and grants is offered. The school will help with applications and funding upon request.
