There are several degree programs offered through the International Culinary School, including an AS in Wine, Spirits & Beverage Management, an AS in Culinary Arts, and a BS in Culinary Management.
About the AS in Wine, Spirits, & Beverage Management Program
Students of this degree program will learn how to manage beverage services including wine, coffee, tea and spirits. While applicants to this program don’t take any cooking classes, you must be at least 21 to enroll.
About the AS in Culinary Arts Program
Students in the AS degree program get access to two externships in local restaurants, hotels, or clubs before graduation. Skills training focuses on moving from basic skills through advanced culinary methods and theory. The bulk of the coursework takes place in the kitchen doing hands-on learning.
About the BS in Culinary Management Program
The Culinary Management BS degree focuses more on culinary skills related to running or managing a business. It includes courses on communication, leadership, human resources, marketing, food safety, and technology. The course includes a hands-on externship; otherwise, all instruction is provided in the classroom.
Accreditation
The Art Institute of California is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, granting it the authority to award both Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees.
