About Keiser University Center for Culinary Arts

Keiser University provides career and technical training in a number of fields, including healthcare, business, technology, education, and the culinary arts. It is considered one of Florida’s largest independent “career universities,” meaning that the focus is on providing and education meant to move right into employment.

Tallahassee Culinary Arts SchoolsMany of the business and technology courses are offered online, and they also have campuses across Florida for all the other fields. The main campus is located in Fort Lauderdale; the culinary arts courses are provided through the Tallahassee, Sarasota, and Melbourne campuses.

All classes through Keiser are offered in four-week increments. Students take only one class at a time, enabling them to focus on each content area. In this way, students never have to juggle classes or struggle to fit classes in with regular employment. It also allows classes to remain fairly small, giving instructors more personalized training time.

About the Culinary Arts Program

The Keiser University Center in Tallahassee offers an Associate of Science in Culinary Arts degree. The program is designed to give students the skills they need to work in the culinary field while also focusing on practical applications for starting a career.

The course is designed to last 84 credit hours, 60 of which are focused only on the culinary field. The course covers everything from the principles of food to classical French cuisine and dining room service. The course includes a required externship before a degree is granted.

Accreditation

Keiser University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. All of its degree programs are recognized by this association, although the American Culinary Federation accreditation is only present on the Tallahassee campus.

Financial Aid

Keiser University participates in all Federal Financial Aid Programs. Students seeking to attend school with federal grants, loans, or work-study programs can work with the financial aid department to develop a financial plan. The school also matches all Bright Futures Scholarships and participates in several Florida-based and national scholarship foundations.

Faculty

The faculty members at the Keiser University Center are chosen for their experience in the field and their ability to work in close relationships with the students. Almost all instructors have spent time either running their own kitchens or working with the best in the field.

Facilities

The Tallahassee campus boasts four fully-equipped kitchens, a banquet room, a lecture hall, and a cooking demonstration classroom. The kitchens are newly renovated and offer all the modern amenities and industry equipment needed to stay abreast of the current technology in the culinary world. The other Keiser campuses – to which culinary students have access – also contain computer labs, a library, and student services facilities.
