There are three degree programs offered through the International Culinary School: an AAS in Baking and Pastry Arts, an AAS in Culinary Arts, and a BA in Culinary Arts.

About the Baking and Pastry Arts Program

The Baking and Pastry Arts curriculum is a well-rounded approach to education. Not only do students get intensive study in core baking and pastry classes, but there is an additional emphasis on general culinary skills and business. By combining these three fields, students are better prepared to create great food as well as successfully navigate the professional world.

About the Culinary Arts Programs

The Culinary Arts degrees are offered as either an Associate of Applied Science or a Bachelor of Arts. The AAS is completed over a course of two years and prepares graduates to be hired for entry-level positions.

The Bachelor’s program is offered over a three-year period. In addition to the basic skills taught in all of the courses offered by the International Culinary School, this program offers students practice with cuisine from around the world, menu design, and other restaurant management skills.

In addition to the American Culinary Federation accreditation, the Art Institute of Tucson is part of the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, a higher education standard recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The school is also a part of the Art Institutes, a network of 40 educational arts institutions spread throughout North America.

Financial Aid

The Art Institute of Tucson provides students with financial assistance in the form of payment plans and general financial planning. The financial aid department also offers assistance in learning how to qualify for and secure scholarships, federal and state loans, private loans, and other monetary educational funds. It is estimated that approximately 80 percent of students receive some form of financial assistance.

Facilities

Each student of the International Culinary School has access to state-of-the-art kitchen equipment. Modern techniques are taught alongside classical styles, and students are encouraged to explore their own unique methods. To increase the potential for hire after graduation, many skills focus on real-world skills. To this end, the Baking and Pastry Arts division requires an internship at a quality food service operation prior to graduation.
